Homegrown Recap: Car Trouble, WA Plastic Ban & Our Most Used Emojis 😂
  • Interact w/Homegrown: What is your most frequently used emoji?
    • Nikki uses the shrug emoji way too much. Google (Noto Emoji v2.028) And Brent just figured a fun new one Middle Finger on Apple iOS 14.6

  • It’s the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.  And around 300 people helped a 101-year-old Navy vet make it to the big remembrance ceremony in Hawaii today.  His name is Ira Schab Jr., and he was on a ship in the harbor when the bombs hit.To get to Hawaii, he needed two caregivers to go with him.  His family couldn’t afford it, and a charity was only able to pay for one.  So his daughter started a GoFundMe campaign, and people donated over $15,000 to get him there.

  • Country Music Calendar Spotlight: On this day in 1978 the Charlie Daniels Band recorded their #1 hit that went to the top of the country charts and also crossed over to the pop charts.

  • Brent asked Nikki if she had strolled into work a little bit later than usual this morning. Surprised, Nikki exclaimed that she had. Her car wouldn’t start when she was ready to leave this morning. Not a great start to the morning. Luckily, it was just a dead battery. A quick battery jump and she was on her way.

  •  The KKRV Tour of Lights is underway and houses are being added everyday to the interactive map. Encourage your friends and neighbors to enter a picture of the home for a chance to win a season of snow removal. CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS.

  • Starting next year, Washington businesses can no longer automatically include single-use food service items like straws and utensils with food orders. While customers can request individual items or pick them up at self-serve stations, the move is a part of a new state law meant to reduce single-use plastics waste.

  • The people at Numerica Credit Union are really good people to be friends with – for SO many reasons. Most recently, they helped hook us up with some bikes for kids when they heard there was a shortage in the donations for the NCW Community Toy Drive presented by Les Schwab. We thank them, and all of you, for making this year’s toy drive so successful so far.

Homegrown w/Brent + Nikki can be heard weekdays from 6-10am on Country 104.7fm, online at KKRV.com or on the Audacy app.
