Homegrown Recap: December 30, 2021 – Happy New Year from Homegrown w/Brent + Nikki

  • Nikki gave updates on Brent’s travels. He made it over the pass on Wednesday night, which was a good idea, since Snoqualmie Pass was closed Thursday morning. By early Thursday morning he had made it to the gate, and the flight was on schedule. It looks like Brent will be spending the New Year on a tropical beach, while Nikki freezes her batookus off.

  • Country Music Calendar Spotlight: It was on this day in 2008 when Country music legend George Jones attended a ceremony where the Kennedy Center honored his career and his life. Fellow country music superstars Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks, Randy Travis and Alan Jackson attended the event in support of Jones as well and sang a melody of his songs including White Lightning.

  • Nikki had set a goal at the beginning of 2021 to try to read 50 books throughout the year (about a book a week). She was on track to do it, until her son was born. She is ending the year 15 books short of her goal.

  • Trivia for Kane Brown Tickets:
    • Question 1: What is the name of Kane Brown’s first child?  Kingsley
    • Question 2: What branch of the military was Kane going to join until they told him he’d have to have his tattoos removed?  Army

  • Nikki feels like she lost an entire year being in a pregnancy bubble and now might be a little out of touch with some pop culture items. Some year-end lists include things she’s never heard of like shows such as Emily in Paris and TwentySomthings. And why in the world is a Kardashian now dating Ariana Grande’s exboyfriend, Pete Davidson (and what do these women see in him?). Maybe it’s just better to stay out of touch.

We will see you in 2022! Happy New Year.
