Waiters Want You To Stop Doing These Things

A huge survey of waiters reveals some things they’d like you to stop doing when you go out to eat.

• Don’t leave your chewing gum on the plate.

• Don’t ask the bill to be split 6, 8 or 20 ways.

• Don’t walk into a restaurant 15 minutes before closing time.

• Don’t say, “Don’t worry, I’m a good tipper” and then leave 15 percent. That’s a tip for average service. Good tippers leave 20 percent or more for good, solid service.

• Don’t change diapers at the table.

• Don’t leave behind anything medical related, like used band-aids or anything else you wouldn’t leave on your own kitchen table.

• If you’re not ready to order just say so and I’ll come back in a few minutes.
