Olympics Highlights: The U.S. Added a Bronze Medal Yesterday

We’re heading into the final few days of the Winter Olympics.  Let’s see how we did yesterday in Beijing . . .

Early yesterday morning, speed skater Brittany Bowe won bronze in the women’s 1,000 meters.  She’s the current world record holder in that event, so third place was a little disappointing.  But it’s also the first Olympic medal of her career.

Then last night, USA took on Canada in the men’s curling bronze medal game.  They were still at it at 2:00 A.M. Eastern.

We’ve still got a few more chances to add to our medal count this weekend, but it’s looking like Norway might run away with it.  Here’s the latest leaderboard we saw.  (Friday, February 18th at 2:00 A.M. ET)

1.  Norway:  29 . . . 14 gold, 7 silver, 8 bronze.

2.  Russia:  26 . . . 5 gold, 9 silver, 12 bronze.

3.  Germany:  22 . . . 10 gold, 7 silver, 5 bronze.

4.  Canada:  22 . . . 4 gold, 6 silver, 12 bronze.

5.  USA:  21 . . . 8 gold, 8 silver, 5 bronze.
