Homegrown Highlights: ONE is the Magic Number

A loss by the Baltimore Orioles and a victory by the Mariners on Thursday cut the magic number down to 1.

Magic number: 1 (postseason berth)
Standings update: 85-70 (second AL Wild Card spot)
Games remaining: 7

AL Wild Card: The Blue Jays lead the Mariners by 1.5 games for first berth; the Mariners lead the Rays by a half game for second berth; and the Rays lead the Orioles by 5.0 games for the third berth.

Seeding battle: Seattle owns tiebreaker over Toronto (5-2 in the season series); Tampa Bay owns the tiebreaker over Toronto (10-9) and Seattle (5-2)

Most of the KKRV Staff (Minus Brad who is an A’s fan) says GO MARINERS!!!

Everyone on the internet seems to be taking jabs at Russell Wilson. Especially after a cringeworthy video of Russell’s Subway endorsement has resurfaced. Watch at your own risk; it’s DANGEROUS!

Even Eli Manning took a sarcastic stab at Russell during this week’s Manningcast. To be fair, the punter did put up 10 points in that game and Russell was struggling – HARD.

If you’ve been keeping score in the Homegrown Head to Head Football Challenge, Nikki marked up her first W against Virgil. This week Brent goes up against our listener Jodie and he seems to think she doesn’t have a chance picking 4 road teams. What do you think?

Raiders vs. Broncos

Patriots vs. Packers

Ravens vs. Bills

Bucs vs. Chiefs

Lions vs. Seahawks

ICYMI: NASA has flown a spaceship into an asteroid, total Armageddon style! This is a test, this was only a test. For real, NASA was only seeing if they could blow up an asteroid that was threatening to hit Earth, and the good news is, they can. Actually, we’re not sure if it’s good news or not. Check out the video that’s come back from NASA here.

HOMEGROWN HOMETOWN HERO!

Earlier in the week we put the spotlight on this bright High Schooler!

Congratulations to 2022 Innovator Awards Winner: Future Technology Leader of the Year, Quentin Farrell!
Equilus Capital Partners presented the Future Technology Leader of the Year Award to Quentin Farrell who is a Senior at Cascade High School. He was awarded for his development of a Minecraft Modpack and sharing his knowledge with other interested coders. He taught himself how to program in JavaScript and developed his Modpack over six months, eventually joining the Discord server and sharing his projects while helping others with their own. Quentin became the 10th most active user on the server this year out of approximately 5000 members. He is now a trusted and respected guide for hundreds of Modpack developers. He has taken Minecraft from being just a game to a programming learning platform. He plans to continue working on this and other projects with Technology Student Association, eventually hoping to attend a university to study math and physics in addition to computer science.
Congratulations Quentin!
