Good News: Firefighters, Bomber Jackets, and Notes for Ukraine

Here are a few more good news stories making the rounds . . .

1.  A guy in Oregon just returned a World War Two bomber jacket to a veteran’s family more than 60 years after the guy left it behind at a restaurant.

2.  We’re living longer than we used to, and getting more quality years out of life.  A new study found that between 1991 and 2011, the average woman gained two years of “disability-free living.”  And it’s almost four extra years for men.

3.  How’s this for a trifecta?  Firefighters in Massachusetts saved a dog from a house fire the other day.  Meanwhile, firefighters in Ireland saved a kitten after it got stuck on someone’s roof.  And firefighters in Florida saved a bunch of ducklings that fell in a storm drain.

4.  A website called Preply added a feature that lets you send notes of encouragement to people in Ukraine, and it automatically translates them into Ukrainian.

You can also read what other people have written.  And there’s a map that shows where all the messages are coming from.  People in 115 different countries have already sent notes in more than 80 different languages.
