Good News: Coke Bottles, Old Flames, and a $640 Million Donation

Here are a few more Good News stories making the rounds . . .

1.  Coca-Cola just did something big for the environment.  All versions of Coke sold in 20-ounce bottles will now come in bottles made with 100% recycled plastic.  The new bottles hit stores this week.

2.  MacKenzie Scott is the ex-wife of Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, and when she pledges to give away money . . . she does . . . big-time.  She just announced that she’s giving away $640 MILLION, split among small 361 non-profits.

Scott gave away more than $2 billion last year, and nearly $4 billion in 2022.  She’s still worth $36.2 billion . . . so it isn’t like she’s clipping coupons.  But still, you have to appreciate her donating all that money NOW so that it can help immediately . . . rather than just promising to leave money to charity someday.

3.  Two high-school sweethearts from Michigan reconnected 73 years later and started dating again.  Bill Hassinger is 90, and Joanne Blakkan is 92.  They met on a school bus and went to prom together, but broke up after she left for college.

Joanne’s daughter looked Bill up two years ago and realized he only lived 80 miles away.  So Joanne wrote him a letter . . . then he called her . . . and they fell in love all over again.
