43% of Us Will Watch March Madness Games at Work This Year

This number seems high, but I guess it’s easier to duck the boss now that so many of us are working from home . . .

37% of Americans in a new poll said they’ll call in sick or skip out on work to watch March Madness this year.

(The first round of the men’s tournament started yesterday and runs through the first week of April.  The first round of the women’s tournament starts today.)

43% will watch at least one game while they’re on the clock.  And 46% say they’ll be less productive in general when games are on.

Just under half of the people polled said they think March Madness is the most exciting sporting event of the year.  That’s even over the Super Bowl.

Two in five are doing a bracket this year, and it’s common to do more than one.  A third said they filled out at least four brackets.

The average amount of money we’re playing with is right around $50.
