U.S. Cases Are Up 40% in One Day and We May Be at a Pivotal Point on the Curve

There are now more than 13,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the U.S.  That’s up 40% in one day.

And according to a new analysis, right now, this country could be at a pivotal point where we find out if we’re going to go the direction of countries that have done a good job containing the virus, like South Korea . . . or if we’ll go the route of Italy.

So far, the countries that have done the best job containing the spread have used four measures:  Easy access to testing . . . contact tracing . . . clear science-based messaging . . . and a commitment to social distancing and self-isolating.

The U.S. has been in catch-up mode on testing and, as a result, is also lagging in contact tracing.  The science-based messaging was muddled at first but has been quite a bit clearer lately.

So, basically, that leaves social distancing and self-isolating.  It’s the one thing that all of us have personal control of and can contribute to the battle.

And since Italy’s death toll from the virus just passed China’s . . . we need to learn lessons from both and do whatever we can.
