Some amazing songs have come from FAKE musicians in movies and on TV shows.  “Rolling Stone” put out a list of the 50 best.  Here are the top 10:

1.  “That Thing You Do!” by The Wonders.  From “That Thing You Do!”  (1996)

2.  “Scotty Doesn’t Know” by Lustra.  From “Eurotrip”  (2004)

3.  “Shallow” by Jackson Maine and Ally.  From “A Star is Born”  (2018)

4.  “3 Small Worlds” by Josie and the Pussycats.  From “Josie and the Pussycats”  (2001)

5.  “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” by DJay.  From “Hustle & Flow”  (2005)

6.  “School of Rock” by the School of Rock.  From “School of Rock”  (2003)

7.  “Best of Both Worlds” by Hannah Montana.  From “Hannah Montana”  (2006)

8.  “Finest Girl” by Conner4Real.  From “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping”  (2016)

9.  “Light of Day” by the Barbusters.  From “Light of Day”  (1987)

10.  “Straight Outta Locash” by CB4.  From “CB4”  (1993)

I would say this list loses some validity by not even putting Spinal Tap in the Top 20.  Their song “Big Bottom” only clocks in at #23.

The list also includes the Brady Bunch, the Partridge Family, the Muppet band Dr. Teeth and the Electric MayhemHomer Simpson’s singing group The Be Sharps, the Banana Splits, and Stillwater from “Almost Famous”.
