Comedian JERRY STILLER died yesterday morning of natural causes.  He was 92.

His son BEN STILLER Tweeted, quote, “He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years.  He’ll be greatly missed.”

Jerry and his wife, Anne Meara, first rose to fame as the comedy duo Stiller and Meara in the ’60s and ’70s.  They made frequent appearances on variety shows like “The Ed Sullivan Show”.  Anne passed away in 2015 at the age of 85.

And Jerry’s career had a late resurgence when he was cast as George Costanza’s father Frank on “Seinfeld”.  He got an Emmy nomination for that.  After “Seinfeld”, he played Arthur Spooner on “The King of Queens”.

Jerry also appeared alongside Ben in the two “Zoolander” movies, plus “Heavyweights”“Hot Pursuit”, and “The Heartbreak Kid”.

Not surprisingly, the cast of “Seinfeld” is paying tribute to Jerry on social media . . .

Jason Alexander:  “He was perhaps the kindest man I ever had the honor to work beside.  He made me laugh when I was a child and every day I was with him.  A great actor, a great man, a lovely friend.  R.I.P., Jerry Stiller.  I love you.”  (He also shared this photo.)

Jerry Seinfeld:  “Jerry Stiller’s comedy will live forever.”  (He added this photo.)

Julia Louis-Dreyfus:  “The truth is that this happened all the time with Jerry.  He was so funny and such a dear human being.  We loved him.”  She also linked to a very funny blooper, where Frank gets into it with Elaine.

People are also revisiting the story of how Jerry Stiller originally passed on “Seinfeld”.  Jerry said that when he was first approached, he hadn’t heard of the series, and he was busy doing a Broadway show.

But they contacted him again, after he was done with the show, and he agreed to meet with them.  And the rest is history.  (Here’s a clip of him telling the story.)
