If People Won a $1 Billion Lottery, 18% Would Give Most of It Away to Friends and Family
Over the weekend, SOMEONE won a $1.3 BILLION Mega Millions lottery jackpot. The winner hasn’t come forward . . . so it’s unclear if they are: A saver . . . a giver . . . or a spender.
A recent poll asked Americans: If you won a $1 BILLION lottery jackpot, what would you do with the majority of the winnings? Here’s what they said:
24% of people say they’d “invest” most of the money . . . 20% say they’d drop most of it in their savings . . . 18% say they’d give a majority of it to friends and family . . . 11% say they’d give most of it away to charity.
8% say they’d just “spend it.” Another 8% selected “Other,” which is intriguing. And 12% said they aren’t sure.
A few other highlights from the poll . . .
31% of people say they NEVER play the lotto. 10% play once a week . . . 14% play once or twice a month . . . and 22% play a few times a year.
61% of lotto players have won money from a ticket before.
87% agree that lotto winners should be able to remain anonymous, while 6% believe their identity should be public information.
