Homegrown Recap: November 12, 2021

  • It’s New Music Friday. The lyric video for the new collaboration between Taylor Swift and Chris Stapleton has been released. Is Chris trying to bring Taylor back into the Country fold? We don’t think so. This is a true pop/country collab.
  • Country Calendar Spotlight: It was on this day back in 2001 that Garth Brooks released his album Scarecrow. Brent was all riled up to play Track #3 off the album in its entirety.

  • Brent + Nikki have high class problems: Nikki plugged in her cell phone last night to charge and realized this morning that it wasn’t charging all night. The light on Brent’s Keurig is blinking at him and fears his morning coffee may be in jeopardy.
  • A new episode of the What’s Up Wenatchee? podcast gets released today. With one full week of Homegrown in the books its time to talk about how the Valley’s most live and local morning radio show came to be.
  • Interact w/Homegrown: Both Ryan Gosling and Anne Hathaway are celebrating birthdays today. This led to a conversation of which famous people we thought were the most good looking. We quickly realized we have very different tastes. Who would be your relationship “hall pass”? Brent’s are Keith Urban and Jennifer Anniston; Nikki’s are Tom Hardy and Demi Lovato.
  • Congratulations to Stephanie who gave the correct answer to our Movie Trivia question this morning and won VIP tickets to Gateway Theaters.
    • Q: The retro movie at Gateway a couple of weeks ago was Sean of the Dead, which had to do with zombies. This week its Love Actually. Which Love Actually actor is now in a zombie television show?

  • With grocery stores feeling the shortage of Thanksgiving staples, consumer are seeing prices go up. Brent is worried that he won’t get his yearly stock of Christmas Cookies from Shari, our Office Manager. That sure would be a Christmas tragedy!
  • The Seahawks have a must-win against Green Bay this weekend.
  • Nikki claims that Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood are doing the award show circuit, a la Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper/Shallow from 2018. They will be performing “If I Didn’t Love You” on the AMAs on Sunday, Nov.21st.
