Homegrown Recap: January 4, 2022 – Betty White’s last words, Brent eats bugs & our 2022 Predictions

  • Country Music Calendar Spotlight: Happy Birthday to Deana Carter.

  • Yesterday our life sized cardboard cut-out of Luke Bryan was front & center when Nikki opened the studio door. This morning Luke must’ve remembered his place and was back in the corner (where he belongs).

  • Brent seems to be having a good time on vacation. We even saw a video of him eating crickets and worms. It wasn’t clear if he was drunk or just hungry.

  • Lake Superior State University has listed ten words phrases it deemed misused, overused and useless for 2022. “Wait, what?” topped that list, a decision that officials defended by stating that the two four-letter words should “not go together under any circumstances.” Other phrases included “new normal,” “you’re on mute,” “asking for a friend,” “supply chain,” “at the end of the day,” “that being said,” “circle back,” and “deep dive.”

  • Nikki watched the Netflix movie Don’t Look Up. In one scene midway through the film, Leonardo DiCaprio’s scientist character Dr. Mindy stars in a government PSA offering a phone number for people to call to get “peace of mind” as a planet-killing comet heads toward Earth. Nikki ended up calling the hotline number, and warns that it might not be at all what you’re looking for.

  • It is being said that Betty White’s last word was “Allen”, which makes sense. That is the name of her late husband that died 40 years ago. If that is true, that is just about the sweetest darn thing, and we love Betty even more for it.

Homegrown w/Brent + Nikki can be heard weekdays from 5:30-10am on Country 104.7fm, online at KKRV.com or on the Audacy app.
