Homegrown Recap: January 31, 2022 – Year of the (Bengal) Tiger
  • Interact w/Homegrown: Who are you rooting for in the Superbowl: Bengals or Rams?
    • Super Bowl LVI (56) will be played at 3:30 p.m. PST on Sunday, Feb. 13. It will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, the home of the Rams and Chargers. Here’s everything you need to know about the game. The Rams will play the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. For the second consecutive season, a team will be hosting a Super Bowl matchup in their home stadium — the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl last year on home turf.  The Bengals advanced to the Super Bowl following their 27-24 overtime victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC championship game Sunday. It marks the Bengals’ first Super Bowl appearance since the 1988 season, when they lost to the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIII. The Rams defeated the 49ers 20-17 in the NFC championship game at SoFi Stadium to reach their first Super Bowl since the 2018 season. The Rams’ victory ended their six-game losing streak to the rival 49ers. The Rams defeated the Arizona Cardinals and the Buccaneers before Sunday’s NFC title triumph.

  • Country Music Calendar Spotlight: It was 13 years ago that Alan Jackson earned his first #1 with Country Boy.

  • Walker Hayes performed his biggest hit and a medley of other songs at the Chiefs-Bengals halftime show at Kansas City, Missouri’s Arrowhead Stadium. Before Hayes hit the stage, something went awry with the audio levels, with hilarious (and deafening) results: The opening bars of “Fancy Like” completely drowned out commentary from a panel of broadcasters. The chaos continued throughout the halftime show. As Hayes proceeded into his current single, “AA,” the broadcasters gamely tried to continue their analysis, but it was clear that none of the viewers were going to be able to hear a word they were saying.

  • Celebrating Betty White: America’s Golden Girl (NBC, 10 p.m.): Exactly one month after iconic actor Betty White died at the age of 99, NBC will air an hourlong special honoring her. They will commemorate and discuss White’s trailblazing life and decades-long career. The hour will also include clips that capture her irreverent tone, spirit and, impeccable comedic timing. Celebrating Betty White: America’s Golden Girl will be available to stream on Peacock the next day.

  • R.I.P Howard Hesseman, who made a career out of portraying off-the-wall characters, none more popular than the disc jockey Johnny Fever on the sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati, has died. He was 81.
Hesseman died Saturday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Los Angeles of complications from colon surgery he first had last summer, his wife, actress and acting teacher Caroline Ducrocq, told The Hollywood Reporter.
