Homegrown Recap: April 5, 2022 – Church, Domes & Brats
  • Interact w/Homegrown: What was the first car that you bought with your own money?
    • Nikki’s boyfriend bought a pretty beat up Subaru Brat that him and his 17 yr-old son are going to fix up together. This led to a conversation about our first cars. Nikki’s was a 1988 Buick Skylark that felt like it was going to blow up every time she drove it. Brent’s was a 1972 Volkswagen SuperBeetle – ultra cool!
    • Throughout the morning’s conversation, Nikki learned what “three on the tree” means – On an automobile (especially those produced from 1939 through the mid-1970s), a three-speed manual transmission whose gearshift lever is mounted on the steering column. She still doesn’t know how to drive a stick shift (no judgments!).

  • Yes we are heading into baseball/softball season. Nikki is envious of her nephews going to the batting cages (where is the closest one around here?) and Brent went to go watch his nieces play fast pitch over the weekend. Nikki has played softball for most of her life, and Brent has actually played baseball in the King Dome.
    • Nikki didn’t know what the King Dome was, so Brent showed her the video of when it was demolished. It reminded her of the Spectrum Arena in Philadelphia that was demolished in the early 2000’s.

    • Answer: Record Year

  • Country Music Calendar Spotlight: Happy Birthday to one-hit-wonder singer, Pat Green!
