Good News: Old Newlyweds, Lunch Debts, and a Man Who Invited the World to Dinner

Here are a few more good news stories making the rounds . . .

1.  Two newlyweds in the U.K. have a lot to celebrate right now.  They recently got married AND just got the vaccine.  The twist is they’re OLD newlyweds.  She’s 86, and he’s 90.  They met in 2019.  And after the pandemic hit, they decided to get married.

2.  We love stories like this where people do their part to make a difference:  The owners of a small auto-body shop in Michigan called Mr. Hoxie’s Garage recently wrote a check for $2,033, and paid off all of their school district’s outstanding lunch debt.

3.  Last year, a cow headed for a slaughterhouse escaped from a trailer in Massachusetts, and was on the run for eight months before someone caught her.  And she ended up saving her own life.  An animal sanctuary in New Jersey is taking her now, so she’ll get to live out the rest of her life on a farm.

4.  People are celebrating the life of a guy named Jim Haynes who passed away in his sleep this month at 87.  He was born in Louisiana, but lived in Paris for 40 years.  And he was known as the man who invited the WORLD to dinner.

He started throwing weekly dinner parties in the late ’70s that ANYONE could go to.  And in 40-some years, he hosted around 150,000 people.
