Good News: Old Cats, Good Neighbors, and an Amazing Thanksgiving Tradition

Here are a few more good news stories making the rounds . . .

1.  A guy from the Bronx named Marty Rogers organized a free Thanksgiving dinner through his church, which is something a lot of churches do.  But he’s in the news because he’s been doing it for so long.  It started as a free Thanksgiving for seniors, but now includes the homeless.  He’s done it every year since 1977.  So, 44 years in a row.

2.  A cat in Oregon might be the oldest living cat in the world, and could get an official record from Guinness.  His name is Samm, and he’s 26.  That’s two years older than the current record holder.  The oldest EVER was even older though.  A cat in Texas named Creme Puff died in 2005, three days after her 38th birthday.

3.  A cyclist in England who calls himself the “Pedaling Picasso” just broke a world record for largest continuous GPS drawing by a bike.  He rode over 66 miles, and drew a picture of a guy with a mustache to raise money for Movember.

4.  A guy in Michigan named Dave Schmitt was getting Taco Bell recently, and asked the woman working the drive-thru why an RV had been sitting in the parking lot for so long.  It turned out the employee he was talking to had been living in it.

She and her son became homeless in February after she fell behind on rent during the pandemic.  So once he found out, Dave started coming in as much as possible and giving her any extra money he had.  Which helped her move into an apartment last month.  Then he helped furnish it.
