Here are a few more Good News stories making the rounds . . .
1. A commuter train operator in Philly named Richard Murray-Dey found a lost wallet on his train, and drove 55 miles to return it. It happened on New Year’s Eve, which was also his birthday. But he still went out of his way.
The guy who lost it is Greg Basile. His doorbell cam got footage of Richard dropping it off. He didn’t say who he was, but Greg tracked him down to say thanks. Now they’ve become friends and both plan to keep in touch.
2. A 99-year-old Canadian swimmer named Betty Brussel just broke three world records for her age group. The first two were in the 50-meter breaststroke and 50-meter backstroke.
She also did the 400-meter freestyle in 12 minutes 50 seconds, almost four minutes faster than the previous record. (The records are for 100 to 104-year-olds, but they go by birth year, not age. She’ll turn 100 in July.)
3. A California Highway Patrol helicopter helped firefighters save a woman who tried to drive through floodwater and flipped her car. She was stranded on top of it for 15 hours before a camper spotted her, but she’s okay.
