William Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew

The Short Shakespeareans are preparing for their 44th

season, with rehearsals currently in progress for their upcoming production

of Taming of the Shrew. Over the next three weeks, the group of 55

talented young performers will be balancing rehearsals, memorization, and

comprehension of their lines, and, above all, enjoying their youth.

The Short Shakespeareans children’s theatre company was founded by

Director Sherry Schreck. Since 2013, the company has been headed by

Director Kelly Atwood as a summer project.

The play “Taming of the Shrew” by Shakespeare features a competition

among Hortensio (Finn Flavin), Gremio (Gabe Scheduler), and Lucentio

(Eli Lemmon) to win the hand of Bianca (Maya Scanlon). However, the

main focus is on Petruchio’s (Kade Devereaux), efforts to tame Katherine

(Abbey Kimmel) and make her a submissive wife. The show will run from

August 9-12 at the Riverside Playhouse in Wenatchee and tickets can be
