Country Life: The Hidden Meaning of the Stars on Barns
A star on the side of a barn is very Americana. But did you know that there are hidden meanings to the stars? Me neither. Well, according to the website Taste of Home, there’s a lot more to those barn stars than just decoration.
They are actually called “Pennsylvania stars” or “primitive stars” and they were originally used by German and Dutch settlers to ward off EVIL. And, the star’s color holds some meaning, too.
1. A brown star is known to symbolize friendship and strength.
2. A white star stands for purity, and energy.
3. A violet star is considered holy.
4. A green star symbolizes hope for growth and fertility on the farm.
5. A blue star, or a black star symbolizes protection for the farm.
6. And a yellow star means love for your fellow man and the sun.
