Carl Weathers Died . . . and Now His Super Bowl Ad Has to Be Changed

As you’ve probably heard by now, Carl Weathers died Thursday night in his sleep.  He was 76 years old.

Carl was best known for playing Apollo Creed in the first four “Rocky” movies.  His other credits included “Predator”, “Happy Gilmore”, “Force 10 from Navarone”, and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”.

More recently, he played a bounty hunter on the “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian”, and appeared on shows like “Chicago Fire”, “Chicago P.D.”, and “Chicago Justice”.  He also played a HILARIOUS version of himself on “Arrested Development”.

(That was pretty much all his idea, by the way.)

Before becoming an actor in the 1970s, Carl played in the NFL and the Canadian Football League.

(Check out statements from Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Adam Sandler here.  Stallone actually posted a video statement.)

Carl Weathers was part of FanDuel’s “Kick of Destiny” Super Bowl ad campaign.  He already appeared in a teaser with Rob Gronkowski . . . but they’re making some changes now.

Quote, “We are adjusting our campaign accordingly out of respect for the family during their time of grief.”
